St. Francis Hospital-Mooresville has established itself as a nationally renowned center for joint replacements and colon and rectal care and has grown to become a full-service hospital, providing comprehensive care to south-central Indiana residents.
In 2008, St. Francis Hospital-Mooresville completed a $42 million expansion project to meet the growing needs of health services to people of Morgan County and surrounding area. This included the only emergency department in northern Morgan County, which serves communities in three neighboring counties. |

- Orthopedics: The Center for Hip & Knee Surgery at St. Francis Hospital—Mooresville is ranked consistently among the top joint replacement centers in the nation and is currently #1 in Indiana and in the top 5% of hospitals in the country for joint replacement procedures. The Center has received 5 stars in hip & knee surgery for nine consecutive years and has been ranked number one in the state of Indiana for joint replacement outcomes by HealthGrades, the leading health care ratings organization, for 2007, 2008, 2009. Patients come from all 50 states and from around the world.
- Emergency services: First emergency department in northern Morgan County
- Obstetrics and Delivery: Cherished Beginnings, the labor and delivery center for the hospital, continues to serve the three-county area with beautifully appointed labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum (LDRP) care rooms, along with a state-of-the-art newborn nursery. Outstanding staff and physicians help to create a wonderfully, supportive bonding environment the mother, baby and family. Prenatal classes, lactation education and specialized physical therapy are all available.
- Sleep Disorders Center: Providing a comprehensive sleep lab with expertise in pulmonology and neurology.
- Colon and Rectal Care: Generations of families have relied on the center for colon and rectal care for specialized diagnoses and treatment of diseases; laparoscopic and general surgery.
- The hospital recently partnered with the Indiana University School of Medicine to establish the state’s first colon and rectal surgical fellowship.

CHARITY CARE/ SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY |
- St. Thomas More Clinic serves Morgan County residents who do not have health insurance and are not on Medicaid or Medicare. Thanks to the financial assistance offered by St. Francis Hospital-Mooresville, the Kendrick Foundation, churches and other charitable organizations, an increasing number of patients visit the clinic each year.
- St. Francis has a long-standing Parish Nurse program with 28 Parish Nurses. Six of them supported from the St. Francis Hospital-Mooresville campus. The Parish Nurse program operates in the five counties of Morgan, Marion, Johnson, Putman and Decatur.
- Annually, the St. Francis staff offers volunteer support to a variety of groups and organizations in Morgan County, including the local Safe Kids program, Habitat for Humanity, Healthier Morgan County Initiative and the interdenominational group, Churches-in-Mission, which provides food, clothing and other items to the needy in the community.
- The hospital partners with local elementary, middle and high schools to provide health education, drug prevention programs and career information. Internships are offered annually to area high school students pursuing health care careers.
- Free meeting space is available to numerous not-for-profit and civic groups.
- St. Francis participates in “Old Settlers’ Days” and supports numerous community events in the area such as Relay for Life and Light the Night.
- The Center for Hip & Knee Surgery sponsors an annual mission to a Central or South American country, providing surgical services and medication to those in need.
- Many health fairs and screening are provided free of charge to area residents.
- A speakers bureau is provided free of charge to the community.
