It is often said that "life is grand." But what is life? It's unexpected and frightening at times - and wondrous and triumphant at others. If you think about it, all of the stages of life unfold within our walls. St. Clare Medical Center is here for you, from prenatal care to bereavement counseling and everything in between. At St. Clare, Life Happens Here.
Because Life Happens Here, you are never far from expert healthcare. Montgomery County and surrounding areas have access to the latest technology right in their own backyard.
Since the early 20th century, we've been providing care to residents of Montgomery County and surrounding areas. Originally founded in 1902 as Culver Union Hospital, today St. Clare Medical Center offers inpatient and outpatient specialty services in a modern facility.
Our 120-bed acute-care facility opened in 1984. We have over 80 physicians on staff, 450 employees and 100 volunteers all dedicated to giving comfort and compassion to our patients and their families. St. Clare cares for our community and reaches out to make sure everyone has access to high quality healthcare, without regard to their financial situation. |

| HIGHLIGHTS |
St. Clare Medical Center was named one of the 2005 Most Wired Award winners in the country from Hospitals & Health Networks magazine, an American Hospital Association (AHA) publication. St. Clare is one of 25 hospitals in the nation to improve their score the most from 2004 to 2005 putting them on the Most Improved List.
"At St. Clare, we are constantly looking for ways to enhance the patient experience, which includes providing the latest in technology," said Jeffrey Zeh, Executive Director of St. Clare Medical Center. "We are honored to receive this national award for our efforts using technology to ensure patient safety and to provide high quality medical care."
The magazine surveyed 1,255 hospitals, representing 21 percent of all hospitals nationwide. The lists are based on responses related to use of information technology in five areas: safety and quality, customer service, business processes, work force, and public and health safety. |

CHARITY CARE/ SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY |
For St. Clare, caring for the community means more than just providing expert healthcare. It's reaching out to the community to make sure everyone has access to high quality healthcare no matter what their financial situation may be. It means offering assistance in spiritual and emotional well-being as well as physical healing.
In 2004, St. Clare provided over $9.3 million in charity and other uncompensated care to the community, exceeding the previous year's total by $1.1 million. This means that almost a quarter of our operating expenses went towards sharing with the community some of the benefits with which we have been blessed.
Caring for the community means providing quality healthcare and a sense of hope for a better, healthier life for everyone. |

| ADVANCES IN TECHNOLOGY |
At St. Clare, cancer can run, but it definitely can't hide. If cancer is lurking, PET/CT imaging provides our radiologist the opportunity to scan a patient's entire body in three, high-definition dimensions to pinpoint cancer's whereabouts.
PET/CT Imaging is the most advanced weapon available in cancer detection. In addition to sniffing out cancer, even when well hidden in bone and organs, PET/CT technology enables doctors to evaluate treatments and make adjustments on-the-fly, maximizing treatment effectiveness and saving lives. |

OUR COMMUNITY
|
Each year, St. Clare Medical Center contributes more than $10,000 to the Montgomery County Boys & Girls Club for the St. Clare Soccer Alliance. The money is used for direct program expenses, such as balls, goals, etc., for more than 800 children from Montgomery County.
St. Clare is also an active participant in the Montgomery United Fund For You (MUFFY) fundraiser and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event. St. Clare staff also serve on numerous boards and organizations in Montgomery County and in their own communities. | |
