Employee Benefits

Perhaps the most touching phrase of Francis' testament is the one he uses to describe his first followers and the beginning of the Franciscan Order: "And after that, the Lord gave me some brothers..."

As an employee of Sisters of St. Francis Health Services, Inc. (SSFHS), you will receive a full benefits package that is both comprehensive and competitive.  The following is an overview of available benefits; the Human Resources Department at the facility of your interest will provide you with specific detail.

HEALTH CARE BENEFITS
Health care coverage is offered by all the facilities sponsored by SSFHS.  Regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible for these benefits, with costs shared by the employee and the facility.

DENTAL CARE BENEFITS
Dental benefits are offered to regular full-time and regular part-time employees.  Costs are also shared by the employee and the facility.

VISION CARE BENEFITS
Regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible for vision benefits on an employee-paid voluntary basis.

DISABILITY BENEFITS
Short- and long-term disability income protection is provided to regular full-time employees at no cost to the employee.

LIFE INSURANCE BENEFITS
Regular full-time and regular part-time employees are provided with life insurance coverage at no cost.  Optional term and permanent whole life insurance coverage is also available on an employee-paid voluntary basis.

RETIREMENT PROGRAM
The SSFHS Retirement Program includes a pension plan, 403(b) plan, and 457(b) plan.

Employees are eligible to participate in the SSFHS Pension Security Plan (defined benefit plan) after one year of service with a minimum of 1,000 hours and attainment of age 21.  Employees are fully vested after five years.  This plan is paid totally by SSFHS, with no employee contributions required.

In the SSFHS Tax Sheltered Annuity Plan, employees are eligible to contribute a portion of their earnings on a pre-tax basis immediately upon hire.  This is a qualified 403(b) plan which offers flexible saving and investing opportunities through AIG VALIC.  After one year of service with a minimum of 1,000 hours, employees become eligible for matching employer contributions.  Employees are fully vested in the matching contributions after three years of service.

Employees contributing the maximum to the 403(b) plan are eligible to participate in the SSFHS Non-Qualified Tax Deferred Compensation Plan, which is a non-governmental 457(b) plan.

PAID TIME OFF BENEFITS
Regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible for paid-time off benefits including vacation, holiday, and sick time.  Benefits are based on length of service.

To complete our comprehensive benefit offerings, employees may also participate in the following programs:
