Charity care
St. Elizabeth Regional Health is committed to providing charity care to low-income families of the Greater Lafayette community who demonstrate financial need. In 2008, St. Elizabeth Regional Health provided more than $12.5 million in charity care to low-income families of the Greater Lafayette community through its charity policy.

Unpaid costs of government-sponsored programs
During 2008, St. Elizabeth Regional Health provided more than $39 million in the net costs of unreimbursed services provided to Medicare, Medicaid and TRICARE patients. Although reimbursement from these government-sponsored programs continues to decrease, St. Elizabeth Regional Health is committed to providing health care services to all patients regardless of reimbursement or the patient’s ability to pay.

Tippecanoe Community Health Clinic*
St. Elizabeth Regional Health provided more than $200,000 in free clinical laboratory and other health care services to the Tippecanoe Community Health Clinic. The clinic provides comprehensive health care to residents of Tippecanoe County who have limited or no access to health care because they lack financial resources, health insurance and/or insurance not accepted by private care physicians. In 2008, the clinic served more than 9,000 patients, totaling 34,676 visits.
